Childbirth

Childbirth should be an enormously intense, exhausting, but phantastic experience. The same holds true for caesarean delivery performed for medical or personal reasons.

 

When I am in charge of a delivery, I encourage the woman to use every means of alleviating pain she likes to. If there is no medical need, I avoid episiotomy (cutting) as well as any other interference with the natural course of childbirth.

 

The chapter would be incomplete without addressing the sad, but frequent topic of miscarriage.
